SQUAWK BOX

Sound Installation

speakers, audio mixer, computer, audio loop.

A commission from the LUFF/OFF Répression sonore

October 18th to 22nd 2017 at Chapelle de Tell, Lausanne, Switzerland.

The Squawk Box was reportedly to be used by

the British Army in the 1970’s to disperse riots in Northern Ireland.

I tried to reconstruct this non-lethal weapon, based on

the high-volume diffusion of two (very close) high frequencies.

The installation was running for 6 hours - non stop,

right in the front of the festival’s main entrance.

Every day, from 18:00 to 24:00,

during the 4 days of the LUFF festival, 2017.
